Don’t Forget the Makeover!

L’Oreal HiP Shocking Shadow Pigments with Professional Brush (854)

This is a Swan Song to my last article post, “Got Baba Ghanoush?”  Once I realized I couldn’t walk out the door in my drab work shirt, black slacks, and Danskos to dine in Chic Downtown Walnut Creek, I got busy with a quick makeover transformation from lifeless grocery worker to chic pretty lady.  First, I let down my ponytail and blew out some nice bangs with my big round brush, blow-out spray and blow dryer.  Didn’t do a full blow-out, but the hair looked decent and less bed-headed.  Next, the face needed some minor doing.  First, I got those dark circles under my eyes with a light dabbing of Revlon ColorStay Caramel Foundation for Oily to Normal Skin.  This matches my skin tone perfectly.  Don’t try to go lighter than your skin for the foundation makeup.  I do the same lightly over the rest of my face and blend.  Next, I get out the NYC Eyebrow Powder and Wax kit in Brown and fill-in my brows with a brow brush.  I add a little brushing of L’Oreal HiP Shocking Shadow Pigments with Professional Brush (854) in my one and only favorite color, a shimmering peachy orange shade over my eyelids.  When the drugstores discontinued this product and color, I went on Amazon and ordered a three years supply, just to be safe, at a very discounted price.  This is a loose eyeshadow powder that comes with a nice brush.  This bit really brightens up my dark eyes.  Next, I dab brush on Revlon ColorStay Loose Mineral Powder in Medium Deep all over my face, especially under my eyes.  Finally, I line my lips and under my eyes with Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown.  I fill my lips in with good neutral lip color mixing various shades of nude and pink and blending it all into and over the brown edges with a slanted lip/eyebrow brush.  I add a coat of  NYC’s Big Bold Gloss Color in 470 (Extra Large Latte).  This should do as far as makeup for a casual outing.  If I wanted to get more dramatic and noticeable, I would line my top eyelid with Revlon ColorStay liquid eyeliner in Blackest Black, then I’d curl my eyelashes with an eyelash curler by holding it shut to the count of three exactly three times.  Finally, I’m ready to brush on some very black mascara on my eyelashes!   Make sure that it’s not water-proof mascara, because that stuff is difficult to remove at night.  Now, with the eyes all done up, we are really going all out dramatic and completely made up.  Actually, it also gives one a professional look.  No time, though, so I stick with the basic less glamorous routine.

The last thing I need to do is transform my look from drab blue-collar day job person to the chic new pretty woman.  We are all capable of cleaning up well when we must.;)   Transformations take an effort!!  But, they are usually worth it.  So, for the dressing part, I stuck with the black dress slacks I already had on.  I changed into a silky sleeveless black and white polka dot blouse with a few ruffles and a bright green thin Spring cardigan.  I put on some pearl stud earrings, a black and gold bangle, a fancy ring, and some nice black pumps – BAM!!!  I’m done.  Ready to go, finally.  With my Marc by Marc Jacobs reading glasses in hand and my Juicy Couture “FALLING FOR JUICY” prescription sunglasses on, I’m on my way to Walnut Creek for what could be a private soiree.;)  Oh, and my handbag is Coach, of course.

So, think about where you are going and plan accordingly before your head out the door!!!  It might turn into a soiree.;)  It’s worth the extra 15-20 minutes it takes to get ready.
